The strong increases in energy prices and, above all, the failure to collect the credits of the Sardinian Reclamation Consortia system towards the Region and Enas risk, in the short term, having serious repercussions on the associated farms and on the territories. A situation that has been going on for many years and is creating considerable damage to the activities of the Consortia both in terms of operational and financial stability.

The concrete risk is "the disconnection of electricity by the suppliers due to the impossibility of honoring the payment of energy bills." Consortium of Reclamation of Southern Sardinia turned to the Prefect of Cagliari, Gianfranco Tomao .

THE MEETING

The letter was forwarded a few days after the meeting with the same Prefect who had been held, by videoconference, on an initiative undertaken by the Reclamation Consortia in concert with Anbi. In addition to the top management of the regional Anbi and the Land Reclamation Consortia, the representatives of the territorial agricultural professional organizations Giorgio Demurtas (Coldiretti), Serafino Casula (Confagricoltura) and Matteo Frau (Cia) participated in the appointment with the representative of the State.

"We thank the Prefect Tomao for having promptly met us, after our request, and for having listened to the requests of the reclamation consortia, Anbi and the representatives of Sardinian farmers - underlines Efisio Perra, president of the Consortium of Reclamation of Southern Sardinia -. The problem of expensive energy is assuming unsustainable dimensions for the activity of all Sardinian Consortia, including that of Southern Sardinia which operates in a very vast territory and offers a fundamental service to the agricultural activities of 106 Municipalities and about 35 thousand consortium members ".

THE LETTER

The consequence of this situation, without specific interventions, as Anbi recalled, would be " the blocking of irrigation services " and the " suspension of the irrigation campaign , with devastating effects on the regional agricultural sector, already heavily tested before by the pandemic". Hence the request for immediate interventions "on the one hand by allocating in favor of the Reclamation Consortia the sums necessary to restore the costs incurred up to now and, on the other, overcoming any bureaucratic obstacle and eliminating all the intermediate steps of the sums allocated from the regional budget , guaranteeing direct and therefore immediate refreshments to the Consortia ".

MONDAY APPOINTMENT AT THE COLDIRETTI ASSEMBLY

Meanwhile, the top management of the Southern Sardinia Reclamation Consortiums, together with the other exponents of the Sardinian and Anbi Consortia, will participate in the Coldiretti Sardinia assembly on Monday 10th in Cagliari. The appointment was organized by the association to discuss at 360 degrees on the problems of the agricultural sector, with a focus on the difficulties of the reclamation consortia precisely because of energy costs and delays in regional funding.
