Maksym Kagal, world champion in kickboxing, died in battle in Mariupol.

The athlete was part of Azov's special forces and was the victim of a fight.

"Sleep peacefully, brother, the land is yours, we will avenge you," said coach Oleg Skirt quoted by Ukrinform.

Kagal, 30, was the first Iska (International sport karate association) kickboxing world champion among adults on the Ukrainian national team.
