Between absences and controversies, today the Ukrainian President Zelensky speaks from Kiev to the Italian Chambers, gathered at Montecitorio.

After the video connections with the European Parliament, the United Kingdom, Canada, the USA, Germany and Israel, a very hard and passionate speech is expected, in line with the previous ones and in all probability accompanied by an appeal to do more to defend the 'Ukraine.

Listened to Elisabetta Casellati, Roberto Fico, Prime Minister Mario Draghi, the Ukrainian ambassador, Yaroslav Melnyk and the parliamentarians.

Not all of them, however. Some will miss the appointment, either because in open controversy with the initiative, or to mark, more concealed, a personal distinction with respect to the position on war taken by Italy and its main political parties. Ukrainian sources reportedly expressed concerns about the risks of some isolated protest against Zelensky in the course of some contacts with parliamentary groups.

The parliamentarians of Alternativa, a group born from the exiles of the Movement, announce that they will not participate in the session with Zelensky, defined as "a stretch" and "a marketing operation". "Being in solidarity" with Ukraine, they explain, "does not mean having to indulge a propaganda aimed at raising the bar on incessant requests for war interventions such as the no fly zone or the dispatch of troops that would entail for Italy and the Europe the official entry into a world conflict ".

Among the former pentastellati also absent senator Nicola Morra, "out for work". The colleagues Elio Lannutti and Paola Nugnes are still uncertain. Emanuele Dessì, now in the Communist Party, deserted the connection, as did the founder of Italexit Gianluigi Paragone. Then there is Bianca Laura Granato (Mixed), who ended up in the eye of the storm for having supported the need to have Vladimir Putin also intervene in connection with the Italian Parliament.

In the Chamber, the position of FaciamoEco is diversified, leaving members to decide independently. Andrea Cecconi, for example, decided not to go to the Chamber. The MP Enrica Segneri, Davide Serritella ("for other commitments fixed for some time") and Vincenzo Presutto were also absent from the M5s.

In the League, which announces itself to be present en bloc together with the leader Matteo Salvini, a couple of elected officials may be missing, including Senator Simone Pillon: he is on a mission to London but has also expressed "strong doubts" about the event. In Forza Italia, Veronica Giannone and Matteo Dall'Osso are absent: "Personal positions", commented by the group.

All the parliamentarians of the Brothers of Italy and Pd were present. The dems define the lack of participation in the session of some parliamentarians as "serious": "They certify a political closeness to those who are devastating Ukraine", points the finger of the deputy Alessia Rotta.

All present in LeU. As for the Italian Left, the secretary Nicola Fratoianni is there but reiterates that "our country's choice to send weapons" was a "mistake".
