Pietro Zito, a 35-year-old worker originally from Montelepre but resident in Cinisi, died at the Villa Sofia hospital in Palermo , following the very serious injuries sustained yesterday in a tragic accident in Misiliscemi, in the Trapani area .

The man, an employee of a window and door company, was crushed by the armored door he was carrying for a delivery . During the transport or unloading of the door something went wrong. The heavy structure overwhelmed the worker, crushing him.

Rescue operations began immediately. The 35-year-old was rushed to the Sant'Antonio Abate hospital in Trapani. His condition immediately appeared desperate to the health workers. Given the severity of the clinical picture, the doctors ordered the patient to be transferred first to the Civico hospital in Palermo and then to the Trauma Center of the Villa Sofia hospital , also in the Sicilian capital, a facility specialized in the management of more complex traumas.

Unfortunately, despite the doctors' efforts and intensive care, Pietro Zito did not make it and passed away .
