Woman killed at home, 15-year-old son seriously injured next to her: mystery

A 58-year-old woman was found shot to death in her kitchen, with her 15-year-old son next to her, injured and in very serious condition.

The Carabinieri are trying to understand what happened today, around 2:00 p.m., in the hamlet of Vago di Lavagno, in the province of Verona. Those who live on Via Galilei, a street of similar houses, heard the shots and immediately raised the alarm. But for the woman, Alessandra Spiazzi, 58, there was nothing more that could be done.

A terrible scene was found by the 118 emergency workers, who first entered the house: near the victim's body there was a boy with very serious injuries, in a pool of blood, the son of Alessandra Spiazzi. What happened inside that kitchen and which hand was holding the gun and the sequence of shots is still the subject of the reconstruction being worked on by the Carabinieri of the Verona operational unit and the deputy prosecutor of Verona Paolo Sachar, who is coordinating the investigation.

Until the evening, investigators hid behind secrecy, letting slip only that they were facing a family tragedy. The area around the house was cordoned off for a long time, to prevent curious onlookers from approaching. Inside, the men of the forensic team worked for hours to collect everything useful for reconstructing the shooting. The testimony of the woman's husband and father of the 15-year-old, who some rumors had initially given as a possible suspect, will be fundamental.

But the Carabinieri immediately clarified that the man has nothing to do with the matter: there is no provision against him, his role is exclusively that of a person informed of the facts. In the meantime, the boy is fighting between life and death in the intensive care unit of the Borgo Trento hospital in Verona. His condition is said to be desperate. However, something was no longer working in that house on Via Galilei. Neighbors reported that for days they could hear the screams of the frequent arguments between mother and son. The mayor of Lavagno, Matteo Vanzan, deeply shaken, announced that the day of the funeral will be a day of mourning. In the meantime, he has cancelled a musical event that was scheduled for this evening.
