Marco Bianchi's life sentence has been confirmed and made definitive. His brother Gabriele has filed a third appeal .
The Court of Cassation has not yet written the final word on the judicial proceedings concerning the murder of Willy Monteiro Duarte , the 21-year-old boy beaten to death in a savage beating that took place on 6 September 2020 in Colleferro (Rome).
The judges fully accepted the request of the Attorney General, who had asked for the confirmation of Marco Bianchi's life sentence and the holding of a new appeal for Gabriele, to exclude the mitigating circumstances granted in the second appeal in which he had been sentenced to 28 years .
The criminal responsibility of all the defendants had already been recognized by the Supreme Court of Cassation, which had also declared definitive the sentences of 23 years for Francesco Belleggia and 21 years for Mario Pincarelli.
The only open position therefore remains that of Gabriele Bianchi, for whom a third appeal will have to be held which will lead to a recount of the sentence, upwards .
In the first instance trial, the Bianchis, experts in combat techniques and previously involved in beatings and brawls, had received life sentences, later reduced to 24 years on appeal. This sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court of Cassation; in the second appeal, Marco's life sentence was reinstated and Gabriele was given a 28-year sentence.
