He was wanted all over the world , accused of being at the center of an illegal maxi-system of manipulation of the US stock and corporate market . Yet he was walking quietly in via Manzoni, in the center of Milan , a stone's throw from the Duomo and the Quadrilatero della Moda.
Right here the police stopped and arrested him, following his arrest warrant issued by the New York Prosecutor's Office.
This is Craig Auringer, 52, a Canadian citizen residing in Great Britain.
He gave his documents to the policemen who stopped him and is now imprisoned in the San Vittore prison awaiting extradition.
The man, as mentioned, is believed to be at the center of a gigantic financial scam implemented in the United States, which would have generated, according to the indictment, over 100 million dollars in illicit proceeds.
