Violent head-on collision between car and truck, a woman and her 12-year-old son died

Tragic road accident today in Puglia , on the Statale 100 Taranto-Bari at the junction for San Basilio, near the Sala Azzurra restaurant.

Following the collision between a car and a lorry, a woman and her 12-year-old son died while the father, who was driving the car, was taken under code red to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in very serious conditions.

The driver of the truck was also injured and hospitalized in Castellaneta hospital.

According to an initial reconstruction , the truck, which was traveling in the direction of Taranto, collided head-on with the Ford SUV which was proceeding in the opposite direction with the family, originally from Palagiano, on board.

The impact was extremely violent and the intervention of the firefighters was necessary to extract the two victims from the wreckage. The condition of the 37-year-old driver of the SUV was also described as critical . The road was temporarily closed to vehicular traffic, with ambulances and police also on site.
