Following the Supreme Court's decision, which upheld his five-year sentence for the Viareggio disaster (a train accident that killed 32 people in 2009), Mauro Moretti is in prison. The 72-year-old former CEO of FS and RFI turned himself in yesterday evening.

"How am I? I've reached this moment in perfect physical and mental shape, and now I'm ready," Moretti said after the sentencing, commenting on his impending prison sentence. "This sentence," he stated, "sets a very dangerous precedent regarding managers' responsibility." But, he concluded, "I have my back straight and my head held high, as everyone knows. I'm going to prison, and I hope it won't be for too long."
