Two violent attacks occurred late yesterday evening in the area of Rome's Termini station , an hour apart.
The first, around 10:15 PM, occurred on Via Giolitti, where a 57-year-old man (an official from the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy) was beaten by several people and is in serious condition. He was rescued and taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition, intubated in intensive care .
Shortly after, another attack occurred on Via Manin, targeting a 23-year-old Tunisian delivery driver, who was also hospitalized. The two incidents may be related.
Since yesterday evening, a large-scale operation has been underway in the area to track down those responsible, conducted by the Railway Police, officers from the Interior Ministry, and the Flying Squad. Dozens of people have been checked, including four taken to the police station; their whereabouts are being investigated. One person has been arrested, a Tunisian man in his twenties with a prior drug conviction.
The first attack, the most serious, was captured on camera: seven or eight people were seen approaching the victim and beating her. Police are working to identify the remaining members of the group and determine the motive, which is currently unknown.
