The trip of a group of kids to Lake Como ended in tragedy.

There were five of them, four of North African origin and one Italian, they arrived from Cinisello Balsamo, in the province of Milan: one of them, Ibrahim, drowned in the waters of the Gulf of Lecco on Lake Como.

Having ended up in the water, the thirteen-year-old disappeared among the waves and was found 10 meters underground an hour and a half later by fire brigade divers.

According to the reconstruction, the children had ventured onto a floating pier in front of the historic center . The victim was wearing a bathing suit, which suggested a test of courage or a game gone wrong.

Subjected to long resuscitation maneuvers on site, he was then admitted to intensive care at Lecco hospital, where doctors subjected him to an extracorporeal circulation technique, in a last-ditch attempt to save his life. But it wasn't enough. Another friend of his, who also ended up in the water, was saved.

The Lecco Prosecutor's Office is investigating the case.
