Aunt and eight-year-old niece dead, two other girls aged 6 and 12 and the 51-year-old father injured, as well as the driver of the other vehicle .

This is the outcome of a tragic road accident that occurred late this morning in Viareggio , on the Variante Aurelia.

According to reports, one of the two cars involved had just entered the Variante Aurelia from the Viareggio Sud entrance while the other was proceeding along the road towards Massa Carrara when the crash occurred.

In one car there was an entire family on board: mother, father and three little girls, two daughters and a granddaughter. In the other there was only the driver. Two little girls were thrown from the car, one died in hospital and the other is hospitalized in serious conditions . The woman died instantly . The other daughter, the father and the driver of the other vehicle were also in hospital, their conditions are reportedly less worrying.

On site, the paramedics sent by 118, municipal police and firefighters. The entrance to the variant was closed in both directions. A passing car would have picked up two of the injured girls to take them to the hospital .
