Tragedy on Monte Legnone, young mountaineer dies overwhelmed by a rock

Tragedy on Monte Legnone (Sondrio) where a 26-year-old boy died this morning at dawn after being run over by a rock .
The mountaineer was with two companions on the Direttissima, one of the paths leading to the summit, when the rock suddenly detached and overwhelmed him, causing him to fall for over a hundred metres. The alarm was immediate, and the air ambulance was also on site. But for the boy there was nothing to do.
The other two were unharmed and escorted downstream by technicians from the Morbegno station. The Sondrio Financial Police Alpine Rescue is now also investigating the dynamics of the accident, on behalf of the Sondrio Public Prosecutor's Office.
