They kept their daughter segregated at home for years, tied up with a chain, harassing her, mistreating her and preventing her from going out.

Today the parents of the girl, a twenty-one year old from Aiello del Sabato, in the province of Avellino, were sentenced to 14 and 12 years in prison.

The sentence of the investigating judge of the court of Avellino, Francesca Spella, inflicted the heaviest sentence on the 47-year-old mother of the young woman, while the father, considered partially incapable of understanding and wanting, was inflicted two years less.

They were accused of mistreatment in the family, kidnapping and aggravated bodily harm. The judgment was celebrated with the abbreviated procedure at the request of the defendant's defender. The prosecutor had asked for a sixteen-year sentence for the mother and 14 years for the father.

The story dates back to April 23 last year when the carabinieri, at the request of the victim's sister, intervened inside the house.

Subsequent investigations ascertained that the 21-year-old was kept tied up at home with a chain and, in addition to suffering mistreatment and harassment of all kinds, she had been prevented from leaving the house for years.
