Bad adventure for the 870 passengers and approximately 200 crew members of the Viking Sea cruise ship.

The boat of 228 meters in length, flying the Norwegian flag, was this morning in the Port of Ravenna when due to severe bad weather it broke the mooring cables, crossing and leaning the keel on the sandy bottom, thus avoiding ending up against the cliff in front. the Guardian Pier of the Romagna port.

In the end , after 4 hours of operations, the ship was "recovered" : 5 tugs worked continuously to counter the violent gusts of wind, managing to bring it back parallel to the quay and then to keep it in a safe position. When the wind dropped, the ship was brought back to the quay through a complex maneuver, with three tugs pushing on the side and two pulling the cables on the opposite side.

In the water also the patrol boat of the Coast Guard CP 328 in assistance, and the men of the mooring group.

The breakage of the mooring lines will be subject to a technical check by the military of the Navigation Safety section of the Harbor Master's Office - Coast Guard of Ravenna, who went on board for an inspection. The ship will not be able to leave the port until the necessary checks have been completed.
