Alessio Di Bernardo and Raffaele D'Alessandro were constituted, the two carabinieri sentenced yesterday in the Supreme Court to 12 years for the murder of Stefano Cucchi.

The soldiers went to the Ezio Andolfato Barracks in Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Casera), seat of the judicial military prison, in the middle of the night. There they handed themselves over to their colleagues who transferred them to prison.

Both were convicted of manslaughter. Instead, there will be a new appeal trial for the two carabinieri accused of forgery: Roberto Mandolini, who had been sentenced to 4 years in prison, and Francesco Tedesco, sentenced to 2 and a half years in prison.

"I am embittered because I am not Stefano Cucchi's killer, but I respect the judges' decision because I am a carabiniere at heart," Raffaele D'Alessandro told his defense lawyer Maria Lampitella before turning himself in.

The day after the sentence Ilaria Cucchi speaks again: “Stefano is dead, he was killed. Today I will finally be able to say it in spite of all those who have hindered us in my battle for truth and justice. The killers have been definitively condemned, I am still surprised, incredulous after so many years of truth screamed with all my strength but denied with intolerable arrogance ”.

Again: “I don't know how I feel, disoriented. I only know that I want to cry freely, lost in immense pain for what has been inflicted on my family during all these years ".
