Tragedy at work in Milan, near piazzale Loreto.

A worker died and his colleague was hospitalized in the very serious condition after both crashed inside the elevator shaft while they were installing the cabin in a building in Viale Monza 2.

The drama took place just before 2pm. According to reports from the fire brigade, the two fell from a height of about 20 meters while they were assembling the lift.

A worker, 55, died instantly. The 26-year-old colleague is hospitalized at Niguarda and his conditions are very serious: he has reported trauma to the face, chest, pelvis and legs.

In addition to the firefighters and 118 rescuers, the police were also on site to reconstruct the dynamics of the tragedy.

The name of the building is Palazzo di Fuoco: it was built between 1958 and 1961 and had been under renovation for three years. It would have been occupied in a month and a half, the position of the elevators is in fact among the latest acts.

And it was precisely in the final phase that the supporting cable of the lift would have been severed, which is why the two workers fell for 20 meters. Skilled workers, as are elevator operators.

The same colleagues told the investigators what happened and left with their eyes down, in shock, hoping that next time it will not be their turn.
