Chaos at Milan Malpensa airport.
A storm that hit the whole area and the city of Milan temporarily brought one of the most important airports in Italy to its knees. All runways suffered flooding, as confirmed by ENAV, and it was decided to suspend all flights between 19 and 21.30.
Several rescue interventions by the fire brigade, for people trapped in their cars in the external perimeter of the international airport. River rescue specialists on site, also employed in the Cargo area, where about twenty people were evacuated by rafting boats.
There were also problems with the non-Schengen customs at the airport: three planes were diverted to other airports.
