His body was found with his head almost decapitated, in an alpine pasture area above Terento, in Alto Adige, yesterday morning. The death of a 25-year-old South Tyrolean remains a mystery, after the first inspection by the Carabinieri and the evidence collected were not sufficient to outline the dynamics of what happened. What is certain is that the young man was at about 1,600 meters above sea level near the Raffalt mountain hut, where he worked, near his parked car.

When the rescuers arrived, the scene was horrifying: on the victim's neck a deep wound that almost severed his head from his neck, perhaps inflicted with a chainsaw. The clues available suggest a murder, but scientific investigations will direct investigators towards the right track.

The autopsy will be performed today. The Carabinieri of Bressanone, the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza of Vipiteno, the health workers of the Croce Bianca, the firefighters and the Alpine Rescue Bergrettung - Avs intervened on site. The Carabinieri Scientific Investigations of Trento and the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Bolzano also intervened at a later time.
