Seven people are under investigation for the prison suicide of Stefano Argentino, the young man who confessed to the murder of his university colleague Sara Campanella .

The Messina prosecutor's office has served seven notices of investigation prior to the autopsy on the boy's body. On August 12, the prosecutor will appoint his consultant, and the suspects will be able to appoint their own technicians to assist with the autopsy examinations, a procedure that cannot be repeated. The Messina prosecutor's office wants to determine whether anyone is responsible for the death of the boy, who had repeatedly expressed the desire to take his own life and was therefore placed under special surveillance.

Fifteen days after his death, Argentino had been readmitted to ordinary detention , so much so that he shared the cell (where he took his own life) with other inmates.
