"My wish is that this affair is closed as soon as possible, because it was a great nightmare, and to get my life back and to be able to live it serenely".

This is what Karima El Mahroug told reporters as she left the courtroom after attending the hearing in the Ruby ter trial .

“It is clear to everyone that I carry a brand, a Scarlet Letter - added“ Ruby ”-. I've always been afraid of being exploited and I think you can understand it ”. The young woman, now 29, did not want to answer questions about Silvio Berlusconi (" I don't want to say anything else, too much has been said, I'm afraid of being exploited ") and spoke of her day defining it as "really exciting".

"It is the first time - he explained to journalists - that I feel defended in a classroom like this, I have never really felt defended, not even when I was a victim".

In the course of the harangue, the defense wanted to show that she never had sex with Berlusconi , never lied and never took money from the Forza Italia leader to keep quiet or to tell the false, and " even if she had received those 5 or 4.5 million from Berlusconi, he would have received them when he was not yet a witness, so it would not be a matter of corruption in judicial acts ”.

And finally the lawyer Jacopo Pensa, looking her in the eyes, said: " I wish you dear Karima the good luck to find third-party judges, equidistant, just , who must contribute to the just sentence, good luck Karima".

The lawyer reiterated that the Prosecutor's Office at the time "did not help or assist Karima, did not consider her as a minor who was saved, as a difficult underage girl who was branded as a prostitute ". And "it was better this way", he added, "the lack of help generated a woman, a mother, a worker, a person of high intellectual profile, a real woman, as perhaps she would not have become with public help". Speaking of the trial, he stated that “ we are here to talk about nothing ”.

The prosecutor asked for five years of imprisonment for Karima El Mahroug, the defense requested full acquittal.
