Alarm was raised last night in the Parco degli Acquedotti in Rome , where the attic of an abandoned farmhouse collapsed near Via delle Capannelle, causing two deaths. Firefighters and police responded to the scene. Dog units were also at work.

Firefighters found the lifeless bodies of a man and a woman under the rubble. According to reports, the two victims have been identified as Alessandro Mercogliano and Sara Ardizzone. The two are believed to have been linked to the group of anarchist terrorist Alfredo Cospito , currently being held under the 41-bis prison regime in Bancali prison in Sassari.

The collapse was apparently caused by the two victims handling a homemade explosive device , which, if detonated, would have brought down the ruins. According to speculation, the device could have been intended for an attack to be carried out in the coming weeks. It has not been ruled out that the railway network and the Leonardo Group, a defense company, could have been targeted.

The police are investigating the incident.
