" Pay me and I'll get you hired at the Vatican Gendarmerie ."

What appeared to be an attractive job offer turned out to be a scam in style. To fall into the net of a 54-year-old from Frascati (Rome) , an unemployed young man . The man, denounced by the Postal Police for the crime of impersonation and illegal possession of weapons , is in trouble after having deceived the boy, promising him a job and for having brought the Gendarmerie into disrepute .

Knowing the boy's job aspirations, he would have presented himself at his house as an officer of the Carabinieri. And in a short time the scam was well served on a silver platter: the 54-year-old, boasting privileged relations with the Gendarmerie, would have offered himself - upon payment - as an intermediary for his recruitment into the Corps. So the family paid a sum of money in exchange for the "favor" . Following the agreement, there was an intense exchange of fake emails, created to mislead the victim, complete with the compilation of selective entry tests , indications of the successful outcome of the tests and even references to a future summons for the "uniform tests" .

The young man only discovered everything when he presented himself in the offices of the Vatican Corps. What happened was immediately reported to the Rome Postal Police. The scammer, following the investigation was identified and reported. In a subsequent search of his home, various electronic devices and material were found to simulate belonging to a military body : in particular, two replica pistols without the expected red safety cap and two card holders with metal plates.
