Maxi seizure of non-compliant toys in La Spezia.

With a joint operation of the officials of the Excise Agency, Customs and State Monopolies, the Anti-Fraud Department of the Spezia Office and the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza, 122,300 items deemed unsafe were confiscated in advance, destined for distribution at newsagents and in Italian supermarkets .

The products would be composed of an elastic material that breaks at the slightest pressure causing the release of a fine white powder, which the little ones risk ingesting.

The toys, with a total commercial value of over 1 million and 200 thousand euros , were manufactured in China and refer to the shapes and brands of a very popular franchise in the pre-school age group.

Chemical analyzes have ascertained their non-compliance with the EU directive which governs the safety conditions that toys placed on the market must respect.

Manufacturer and importer , both Italian, have been reported.
