"The Pope slept well last night and is now resting." This is the message released this morning by the Holy See , which therefore communicates how the Holy Father's hospitalization is continuing for treatment of the bilateral pneumonia he was struck by in recent days. Bergoglio "is continuing therapy," has undergone "new tests" and is in "good spirits," Vatican sources report. The Pope, the note continues, "is aware of what is happening, in particular of the faithful's prayer initiatives. " Francis is still undergoing oxygen therapy and is in an armchair, this morning "he woke up, had breakfast and is following therapy."

The situation is "stable" compared to yesterday evening, when the medical bulletin spoke of a "slight improvement". "The slight renal insufficiency found in recent days has subsided ", the Holy See also explained, while "the chest CT scan showed a normal evolution of the pulmonary inflammatory picture".

The note adds: "Today's blood tests and hemacrocytometry confirmed yesterday's improvement." Again: "High-flow oxygen therapy continues; today too he has not presented asthmatic respiratory crises." And respiratory physiotherapy also continues.

The prognosis remains reserved, however , with the Pope having received the Eucharist yesterday morning, while in the afternoon he dedicated himself to work activities".
