One of the three traffic policemen who were hit by a car in Rome yesterday evening while carrying out investigations at the site of a road accident had his left leg amputated .
This is Daniele Virgili, a recently hired agent, just 25 years old , admitted in red code to the San Camillo hospital. Two other agents, both women, were hit with him, whose conditions are less serious.
The tragedy occurred yesterday evening on Via Tiburtina , near the Grande Raccordo Anulare bridge.
The person who hit the traffic police was an off-duty carabiniere, who tested positive for alcohol with a level of 1.9 g/l , almost four times the limit. The soldier, who reportedly belongs to the ROS, stopped to provide assistance. He was reported for drunk driving.
"I am still deeply shocked by what happened last night. I express my closeness and solidarity to the injured officers and their families," said the commander of the local police Mario De Sclavis. "In particular - he added - my thoughts go to the officer who is only 25 years old and who recently joined the Corps, who unfortunately is still in serious conditions . As a parent, I find myself sharing this moment with the family with great apprehension and pain."
