Etna continues to erupt. This morning, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology reported the opening of an effusive vent on the southern flank of Bocca Nuova, at an altitude of 3,000 meters. The flow is moving south.
Field surveys are underway by INGV personnel. No significant seismic changes have been reported. The source of the volcanic tremor is located at an altitude of 2,800 meters.
No significant infrasonic activity or ash emissions were recorded. Catania airport remains operational, although an orange-level flight alert is in effect.
