Monsignor Francesco Antonio Soddu, current national director of Italian Caritas, was appointed by Pope Francis as bishop of the diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia. He takes the place of Monsignor Giuseppe Piemontese, who has resigned for having turned 75.

Born in Chiaramonti, in the Sassari area, Soddu is 62 years old, he was ordained a priest in 1985, since 1997 he has been parish priest of the cathedral of Sassari and since 2005 director of the diocesan Caritas of Sassari. He completed his theological studies at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Sardinia.
