The hypothesis is becoming more and more consistent that two young people of 26 and 27, shot dead last night in Herculaneum, were mistaken for thieves.
The victims are two students with a clean record, Giuseppe Fusella and Tullio Pagliaro, and the carabinieri immediately ruled out the hypothesis of a Camorra ambush.
According to the reconstructions, the two went to a soccer field that is not far from the place of the tragedy yesterday evening. Then, on the way back, they would stop for a chat in the car. And someone - apparently the owner of a house, with a legally detained weapon - would have opened fire on them for fear of being faced with two thieves.
The area where the event took place, which happened around one in the morning, is quite far from the center of Herculaneum and isolated.
The carabinieri are still working on the reliefs to reconstruct the exact dynamics of what happened.
