A sensational judicial error that destroyed her career and for which now Greta Gila, a 24-year-old Hungarian model, is asking 100 thousand euros in compensation from the Italian state.
The facts date back to March 22, 2019 when Greta, miss tourism in 2018 and one of the participants in miss universe, was in Italy, from where she should have left for a photo shoot in Tokyo.
She was mistaken for a drug trafficker. While she was at the hotel, the judicial police knocked on her room and arrested her, to lock her up in prison in Civitavecchia on charges of international drug dealing. "I thought they were kidnappers," the young woman will say.
After two and a half months in the cell she was released from prison and the obligation to sign was ordered for her. In December, after a 10-month odyssey, the investigation was closed.
The investigating judge filing the case underlined the judicial error, resulting from a false testimony that was enough to make her end up in the cell: an acquaintance of hers, in fact, stopped in Fiumicino with cocaine, had said that the drug was destined precisely for Greta.
She was not a pusher and drugs were not for her, as the young woman has always claimed, in short. But in the meantime, the photo shoot in Japan has been canceled and job offers have evaporated due to that infamous accusation. In addition to those two and a half months in prison that have marked her, causing insomnia, depression and panic attacks.
For this reason the girl, through the lawyer Massimo Scaringella, asked for compensation for unjust detention and aims to obtain 100 thousand euros. The Rome Court of Appeal will decide on 22 February.
