He managed to enter the IT systems of the ministry and other important companies such as Tim and Telespazio several times, including those of the Guardia di Finanza. His name is Carmelo Miano, the Sicilian hacker, almost 24 years old, born in Sciacca, resident in Gela and domiciled in Rome, to whom the Naples Prosecutor's Office is accusing the crimes of aggravated unauthorized access to IT structures and the distribution of malware and software programs.
Miano has admitted to having violated the servers of the Ministry of Justice but not only that: assisted by his lawyer, Gioacchino Genchi has also made it known that he is willing to collaborate with the investigators. Miano has however denied that his computer incursions have caused damage to the targeted computer systems. The 24-year-old has also admitted to having consulted the emails of several magistrates between Naples, Rome, Gela and Brescia. The lawyer of the suspect has asked that the documents be transmitted for competence to the Perugia Prosecutor's Office and praised the investigative activity of the pool of Neapolitan prosecutors who investigated his client, underlining, at the same time, the fragility of the computer systems violated by the young Sicilian hacker. Lawyer Genchi has asked the investigating judge of Naples who issued the arrest in prison notified to Miano by the Postal Police to mitigate the precautionary measure of prison with house arrest.
As for the damage to the contested computer system, Miano's lawyer explained that "it was already in a bad enough state." Regarding the possibility that the 24-year-old had also come into contact with alleged secret service representatives, the lawyer replied that his client is willing to answer to the prosecutors "on every other aspect of the investigation."
