Terrible road accident this evening shortly after 6.30 pm in Foggiano, along the A16 Napoli-Canosa motorway.

Involved a car and a minibus of a religious institute, which after the crash that occurred in the section between Candela and Cerignola west overturned, broke the guard rail and ended up in an escarpment.

The toll is tragic: four people died and nine others were injured and transferred to hospital by helicopter rescue. The victims are all nuns.

The fire brigade, the medical and mechanical rescue services, the traffic police patrols and the staff of the eighth section of the Bari section of Autostrade per l'Italia intervened on the spot.

The stretch between Candela and West Cerignola was closed, in the evening a full two kilometers of queue towards Canosa.
