There were moments of terror this morning in Milan's Piazza Gae Aulenti , where a 43-year-old woman was rescued after being attacked with a knife. "They stabbed me," she told the Carabinieri, who responded to the scene with paramedics.
According to the reconstruction, the victim, while on her way to work, was confronted between two buildings surrounding the square and struck in the back with a 30-centimeter blade . The area of the wound was cordoned off , and traces of blood were visible on the ground. Her husband , contacted by law enforcement, rushed to the scene on his bicycle.
The 42-year-old was transported to Niguarda Hospital, where she was taken care of by the trauma center team, who are operating on her. The prognosis remains guarded at this time.
Carabinieri officers from the Mobile Radio Unit are working to clarify the incident and identify the attacker. The attack appears to be completely unprovoked. A man with white hair, wearing black sneakers, carrying a backpack and a shopping bag : this is the description of the man, apparently in his fifties, who stabbed the 43-year-old woman in the back. Initial reports suggest the man was standing in the street between two buildings and, when the woman approached, he struck her.
