A 32-year-old manager from Turin, victim of a gang rape in a club on the Navigli in Milan in March 2023 , was fired from the company with registered office in the Netherlands for which she worked in Assago because she was "no longer efficient".
The woman, according to La Stampa, was raped for an entire night after a party by three boys who she considered her friends.
The alleged perpetrators of the violence were identified and arrested by the police. The victim was treated in hospital. The company she had been working for for three years, specialized in the trade of luxury brands, initially showed her support and solidarity : after six months of hospitalization and psychotherapy, the 32-year-old tried to return to work in September. But she wasn't psychologically ready yet.
Last March 11th the company gave her the letter of dismissal "for justified reason" and offered her 5 thousand euros in severance pay : «With a view to greater efficiency - we read - we have decided to reorganize our activities, eliminating the position of 'Service Merchandiser' currently held by you and redistributing your current duties among other employees currently employed by us".
The worker appealed against the dismissal.
Meanwhile, on January 16th, the hearing ended with a sentence of 3 years and 7 months of imprisonment with an abbreviated trial and two indictments, before the preliminary hearing judge in Milan, against the three young people, aged between 23 and 27, accused of gang sexual assault.
