A 62-year-old businessman killed his 23-year-old son during a fight that broke out during a party in San Gregorio di Catania. In the shooting, the man also wounded a friend of his son in the heel.

The Provincial Command Carabinieri are investigating the incident.

The man allegedly intervened to quell a fight in a villa used for private events where a birthday party was being celebrated, firing several gunshots in the air with the aim of intimidating him and when his son and some of his friends intervened to disarm him, a fight broke out during which two more shots were fired.

This is the reconstruction of the Carabinieri and the Catania Public Prosecutor's Office. In the shooting, one shot fatally wounded the 23-year-old son, hitting him in the abdomen, the other shot wounded a 31-year-old man in the heel, who was treated and released from the Cannizzaro hospital.

Inside the villa, managed by the 62-year-old, a birthday party was underway, attended by numerous young people. During the evening, however, a fight apparently broke out between some of those present and the manager of the event hall, in an attempt to restore calm, initially tried to calm things down, then pulled out a gun and fired several shots with the aim of intimidating.

During those tense moments, the 62-year-old's son, who was inside the room, allegedly intervened with others to stop his father, however, in the confusion generated by the escape of those present, the man allegedly fired further gunshots, one of which proved fatal to the son, who died shortly after despite the 118 staff's attempts to resuscitate him.

The man was arrested for voluntary homicide.
