Giuseppina Bardelli, the 89-year-old woman who disappeared on Wednesday while she was looking for mushrooms in the woods of Passo della Forcora, in the territory of Maccagno con Pino and Veddasca (Varese), was found alive after four days out in the cold.

After 4 days of searching with dogs and drones, when all hope was at zero, rescuers tracked her down in a remote area and immediately took her to the hospital . The woman, a resident of Malnate (Varese), had gone with her 57-year-old son to look for mushrooms on Wednesday afternoon but the man at a certain point lost sight of her and returned alone, immediately raising the alarm.

The search then began, involving firefighters, civil protection, volunteers, as well as Sapr (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) personnel who used high-tech drones and the Canine Unit who used dogs trained to search for missing people.

After four nights spent in the woods, drinking rainwater and covering herself with vegetation, "the woman was found alive and rescued by one of the search teams - the firefighters explain - The support of the medical personnel was immediately requested and she was then entrusted to them for the necessary care".

Giuseppina was admitted to the hospital with a broken rib, due to a fall, but her condition is improving.
