Infections down for the first time after 13 weeks (-3.7%). Intensive care is also down

After 13 consecutive weeks of increased infections, the last week finally saw an inversion of the curve of new cases, which were 1,197,970 against 1,243,789 of the previous seven days, with a drop of 3.7%.
Intensive hospitalizations also drop by 1.4%, from 1,715 to 1,691, while those in the medical area increase by 3.7%, from 19,448 to 20,037.
The worst figure is that on deaths, 2,519 compared to 2,266 the previous week: + 11.2%.
Buffers, both rapid and molecular, are reduced by 4.5%. The 7-day moving average of the molecular positivity rate returns to rise (from 21.3% to 22.9%), while the rapid one remains stable (from 14.4% to 14.3%).
"These numbers - explains Nino Cartabellotta, president of the Gimbe Foundation - confirm that the circulation of the virus remains high and that, given the rise in the rate of molecular positivity, the decline in the contagion curve must be interpreted with caution".
VACCINES - As of January 26 (9 am) 1,076,537 children between 5 and 11 years of age have received at least one dose of Covid vaccine (of which 332,517 have completed their cycle), the national coverage rate stands at 29.3% but with clear regional differences (from 16.4% of the Marche to 47.2% of Puglia).
Overall, 84.2% of the population, equal to 49.8 million, has received at least one dose and 80.1%, or 47.4 million, have completed the vaccination course, but there are still 7, 8 million without even a dose, of which 2 million over 50 who are at greater risk of hospitalization.
However, in the week 19-25 January there was a drop of 30.9% of the new vaccinated: they were 355,309 compared to 514,324 the previous week. Of these, 43.9% is represented by children between 5 and 11 years of age, a sharp decline compared to the previous week (155,997 new vaccinated in this range, equal to -35.6%).
Despite the introduction of the vaccination obligation, the new vaccinated people over 50 drop to 96,957, equal to -25.6% compared to the previous week. On the third dose front, 31,138,488 were administered.
