House on fire, a man and his dog die

Tragedy in Montecchio Precalcino, in the province of Vicenza, where a man and his dog died this morning in a house fire. The victim is a retired radiologist, Gianni Marotto, aged 75.
After intervening on the spot, the Fire Brigade recovered the body of man and animal, completely charred.
The fire broke out around 5.30 in the morning. The alarm was raised by a motorist who noticed the flames that enveloped the house, in the Levà area. According to the first reconstructions of the carabinieri, the man, awakened by the flames, tried to open a window but was suffocated by the smoke that invaded the entire house. The cause of the fire is likely to be linked to a kerosene stove used for heating.
Five fire brigade teams, the Suem 118 and the Carabinieri, are working on the spot.
The judicial authority has ordered the seizure of the property.
