« General Roberto Vannacci ceases to hold office as commander of the Military Geographical Institute on August 20 – Carrer's words on Twitter -. It is transferred as an extra organic force to the Comfoter of Florence . In his place General Massimo Panizzi , who maintains the position of commander of the territorial area».
Vannacci, 55, former head of the Folgore paratroopers and until now head of the military geographical institute, had ended up at the center of controversy for his book entitled "The world upside down" . In which speaking of homosexuals and gay couples he writes: « You are not normal, get over it! » And again: «Normality is heterosexuality. If everything seems normal to you, however, it is the fault of the plots of the international gay lobby".
Speaking of self-defense, the general also specifies in the text: if a thief enters the house «because I shouldn't be authorized to shoot him, to pierce him with any object that passes between my hands», «if I plant the pencil that I have in my pocket in my jugular of the thug who attacks me, killing him, why should I risk being convicted?».
Crosetto denounced what was contained in the general's book, speaking of " opinions that discredit the Army, the Defense and the Constitution ". "For this reason, the foreseen disciplinary examination will be initiated by the Defense," he then specified.
THE REPLY – «The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech. No hate speech from me . I don't feel like taking steps back, I claim what I wrote. I never use vulgar or trivial words: I express my thoughts freely". So General Roberto Vannacci commenting on "Diario del Giorno", on Rete 4, his removal as head of the Military Geographical Institute after the controversy that arose around his book. «Whoever wears a uniform plays an institutional role – he then added – but freedom of speech is guaranteed by the Constitution. I fight the single thought that forbids criticism of a certain category of people".
" Hate is a feeling, like love and therefore I think it is legitimate to feel contempt for something or someone – he continued -. This does not mean inciting violence : I am free to feel hatred for rapists or for those who harm children. That doesn't mean I'm inciting the lynching of these people."
