Shock robbery in Rome , a stone's throw from Termini station , where a criminal , during an attempted robbery, attacked the owner of a grocery store by biting a finger off her , then fled on foot.

The facts around 9.15 pm three days ago, as explained by the local press.

According to what has been reconstructed, the woman tried to react to the man's attempt to take away the day's income : he replied by biting her until his finger was removed.

The alarm was triggered by a passer -by, who noticed the woman on the ground , bleeding and without a finger. So the police officers arrived who gave the woman the first attention and called an ambulance. Then they set off on the trail of the robber, who was identified and tracked thanks to video surveillance images. He is a 32-year-old Brazilian citizen with no fixed abode who usually lives near the railway yard.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where the operation to sew her finger was successfully performed .

The 32-year-old Brazilian will now have to answer for aggravated attempted robbery and serious injuries .
