A turning point in the investigation into the death of Ambra De Dionigi, 29, from Pasturo (Lecco), found dead at dawn last December 23 along a road parallel to the highway 36 near Nibionno. A 49-year-old Italian man, resident in Carate Brianza, is being investigated for road homicide aggravated by failure to provide assistance, after being identified by investigators, coordinated by the Lecco Public Prosecutor's Office.

He was allegedly the driver of the van that hit and killed the woman.

The man was asked to be held in custody in prison and the judge - following today's questioning in the Court of Lecco - reserved his decision. "I thought I had taken an animal," he told the magistrate.

The investigations were particularly complex, as there were no public cameras at the accident site. Investigators traced the van through the video surveillance systems of companies in the area, and some witness statements. The van was located at the company where the man works, still dented and with a pendant of the victim stuck in the bodywork . The accident is said to have occurred the evening before the body was found.
