He was hospitalized at the Cardarelli hospital in Naples, where he died in the past few hours. Eduardo Chiarolanza was in prison after admitting to killing and tearing up his mother, Eleonora Di Vicino, 84, in Pianura last September.

The doctors had helped him after an attack suffered in Poggioreale by another psychiatric inmate - Chiarolanza was also suffering from psychiatric problems - with whom he shared a cell.

The death of the 59-year-old, although it took place in a Covid ward, would be attributable to the deep head injuries caused by a blunt instrument, perhaps a stool.

Chiarolanza had put in place a precise plan to kill the mother, it even seems the plot of a book, and after having dismembered her he had distributed parts of the body in various bags left in some places in the area. The head, for example, had been recovered days after the crime thanks to the use of a drone.
