The four-year-old boy was miraculously saved because, after escaping from the control of his mother who was at home with him, he went out onto the balcony of the house and fell down, falling 12 metres.
The little boy suffered suspected fractures to his legs, but has always remained conscious. The episode occurred shortly after 2.30pm in Carvico, a town on the Bergamo island.

The child fell from a height of a dozen metres, ending up on the pavement in front of the building: no one would have directly witnessed the fall. The mother was at home, while the father was away on business.

The local police officers of Monte Canto, a consortium which brings together some municipalities in the area, are investigating the exact dynamics. The alarm was given to the local 112 by a volunteer from the town's law enforcement service which monitors pedestrian crossings and who happened to be passing by: he saw the little boy on the ground and immediately gave the alarm. Various 118 vehicles were sent to the scene: the medical vehicle, the ambulance and also the air ambulance.

The child, from a family of Senegalese origin who has lived in Carvico for years, was stabilized on the spot and then accompanied by ambulance to the air ambulance, which landed not far away. He was then transferred by flight to the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bergamo, as a precaution in code red, but he did not suffer serious injuries.
