Roberto Saviano was sentenced in Rome to a fine of 1000 euros for having defamed Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The proceeding is linked to a 2020 affair when Saviano defined the Fdi leader as a "bastard" when talking about the migrant issue. «Losing today – the writer's comment after the sentence – is an example of what will happen tomorrow. And it leads us even further to understand the situation we are living in, with an executive power that continually tries to intimidate anyone who tells their lies."
