The minor accused of having participated on the night of July 7 in the gang rape, at the Foro Italico, in Palermo, confessed before the investigating judge of the juvenile court Alessandra Puglisi.
There is a video found by the carabinieri in one of the mobile phones of the arrested which leaves little doubt about the presence of the boy, who was a minor at the time of the events and has already turned 18 in the meantime, in the abandoned construction site on the coast of Palermo where the the violence in which seven young people aged between 18 and 22 took part.
The confession led to the suspect's release, who is now in the community. The prosecutor for minors Claudia Caramanna has already announced the presentation of an appeal against the provision of the investigating judge, believing that these are particularly serious facts and therefore the young man must be in prison.
The video recovered by the investigative unit of the carabinieri would show that the minor was among the most violent. Today in court the interrogations of the other three arrested last Friday. The first three of the group had ended up in prison in early August.
The facts
The seven boys, as reconstructed by the carabinieri, raped a 19-year-old girl in turn after getting her drunk and forcibly dragging her to an isolated area of the Foro Italico.
In addition to the girl's complaint and the hospital's medical reports, the herd was nailed down by the images of some surveillance cameras that captured the journey from Vucciria, in the nightlife area where they had spent the evening, up to the abandoned collector's site sewer.
The "mass rape" would have taken place there, as confirmed by the unequivocal title of the video shot by Angelo Flores who filmed the violence against the helpless victim with his cell phone.
And it is precisely on the cell phones of the suspects that the attention of the investigators is being concentrated. During a conversation picked up by the police in the barracks, two of the arrested boys, Samuele La Grassa and Elio Arnao, in fact speak of the need to hide the phones, one of which would have been "buried" underground perhaps because it contained other incriminating videos.
Palermo is in shock over an event that has aroused anger and bewilderment, also due to the indifference of those who witnessed the scene: «I tried to ask for help - the girl told the carabinieri -. Nobody came to the rescue."
