Giovanni Brusca is a free man .
The executioner of Capaci, the mafia boss who activated the remote control that triggered the explosion on May 23, 1992 that killed Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo and their escort agents , finished serving the 4 years of probation imposed by the surveillance judges at the end of May.
It was the last debt to justice of the boss of San Giuseppe Jato, who, after his arrest and after an initial false repentance, decided to collaborate with justice . Brusca confessed to about 150 murders, including that of little Giuseppe Di Matteo, the son of the repentant kidnapped, strangled and dissolved in acid after 779 days of captivity .
Brusca served a total of 25 years in prison: heated controversy followed his release and the decision to subject him to probation. Brusca will continue to live far from Sicily under a false identity and will remain under the protection program .
