The money from the scam against Massimo Moratti, former president of Saras and Inter, has been recovered and blocked. He had paid, into a Dutch account, two transfers of just over 470,000 euros each, believing that the recipient was the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto. This after, last week, some scammers had contacted him in the name of the representative of the Meloni Government, asking him (with the simulated voice of the minister) to pay the ransom for the release of (non-existent) journalists kidnapped in the Middle East .
Moratti then told the story, while other reports emerged, including those of the Aleotti families (shareholders of the Menarini group) and Beretta (owners of the multinational arms manufacturer) who had also been contacted but, unlike Moratti, had not paid the money .
Now, the amount that the entrepreneur paid into a Dutch account – almost one million euros – has been traced by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Milan, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office. " I am very happy that the money stolen by deception from an entrepreneur, using my falsified voice and my name, has been identified in a Dutch account and blocked in its entirety . Excellent work by the magistrates and the police force", the post on X by Minister Crosetto, who had reported the scam to the Carabinieri this afternoon.
" Everyone was very good, starting with Minister Crosetto who put his face on the line and warned me immediately ," Moratti told Ansa. "Then the prosecutor Viola and the Carabinieri were incredibly professional. The immediate complaint made the solution easier, even if it wasn't very simple."
