The 17-year-old arrested four days ago in the investigation by the Carabinieri of the Como Investigative Unit for the murder on September 24 of Candido Montini, 76 years old, owner of a grocery store and former deputy mayor of Garzeno (Como), confessed.

And after the interrogation, before the investigating judge of the Juvenile Court of Milan, the judge validated the arrest and ordered the precautionary custody in prison for voluntary homicide and robbery. The young man remains at the Beccaria in Milan. Up to now in the interrogations before the prosecutor for minors, both in the one that led to the arrest and in a subsequent one, the 17-year-old had availed himself of the right to remain silent. Today, however, he admitted his responsibilities for the robbery and murder of Candido Montini.

The young man, a distant relative of the victim, had been stopped after almost a month of investigations, because his biological traces - after widespread DNA sampling in the small hamlet of Catasco di Garzeno - had been found on the murder weapon, a kitchen knife, abandoned a few dozen meters from the old man's home, where the man was killed with about twenty stab wounds. The old man's wallet had also been found on the street, not far from the house, without any cash inside. In addition, the boy's fingerprints were on the knife and in the house. It also emerged that the day before the crime the young man had argued with the victim, because Montini had refused to change 300 euros for him, which were clearly fake.

This "tragic story", explains the president of the Juvenile Court of Milan, Maria Carla Gatto, "which follows in a short time other equally dramatic events that have as protagonists young people belonging to families inserted in the social context, highlights a very serious and alarming discomfort that is not promptly intercepted by the family, nor by the school, nor by the various agencies in the area".
