The body of Giuseppe Maio, the former carabiniere poisoned in Tunisia, arrived in Rome today and an autopsy will be performed tomorrow morning, October 18, by order of the Prosecutor's Office. The retired soldier, 62 years old, originally from Sicily but adopted by Alghero, had felt ill on September 21, during a dinner with friends, in a house in Hammamet.

In the company of other former soldiers and former Italian intelligence agents, during a dinner, in fact, the man allegedly ingested a homemade liqueur, a type of nocino, obtained from the maceration of peach stones, accusing serious symptoms of poisoning that led to his death. An accident, the investigators of Hammamet believe, but the Italian Prosecutor's Office, which has opened an investigation into the case, will carry out further investigations.
