There would be a "precedent", in a manner very similar to what happened on 15 April, and it could complicate the position of Piero Fassino, the representative of the Democratic Party and former minister reported for the theft of a 100 euro bottle of Chanel perfume at the duty free at Fiumicino airport.

The employees of the commercial establishment heard as witnesses by the Polaria agents would in fact have told how in the past the former mayor of Turin was recognized as the perpetrator of a theft at Terminal 1 of the airport.

On the first occasion, according to what we learn from investigative sources, the Democratic MP was not stopped.

For his part, Fassino defends himself, through his lawyer, Fulvio Gianaria : «A banal and unfortunate episode which would have deserved a calm investigation is sensationally transforming into a media attack, a truly parallel process which finds the surname as the only explanation known of the citizen involved", stated the lawyer, underlining that "for this very reason, in agreement with Piero Fassino, I postpone any comments until a future full reading of the documents".

The investigators also acquired images from the store's video surveillance cameras . Based on what emerges from the video, Fassino actually attempted to steal the object. And again: the parliamentarian at that moment would not have his cell phone in his hand, as he himself later said, attributing the gesture of putting the package in his pocket to the distraction of a phone call .

The video, therefore, could prove decisive in clarifying the dynamics. After sending the information, the ball will then pass to the magistrates. It will be up to the Prosecutor's Office to decide how to proceed: the first step could be the formal opening of an investigation file and the investigators at that point, after the analysis of the documents sent by Polaria, will evaluate whether to close the proceeding or entrust the judicial police with a delegation for further investigation.
